About
Shevach began informal coaching rather unintentionally in the early 90’s while teaching successful adults certain technical skills. At that time he noticed that, besides teaching these skills, he was also helping them sort out and solve financial, family and career issues . One of his “students” was so impressed with his business advice that he eventually gave him money to manage in the very volatile future’s market! (He ultimately left this field, feeling that understanding people and helping them served society better and was more gratifying than understanding S& P contracts).
After experiencing the satisfaction of helping people he decided to take a special education teaching course. He received government certification to teach LD children on the elementary school level and began to teach in resource rooms “one-on-one”, helping many of his pupils to reach academic success. His main stress was not only teaching the three “r”s but to build up their self image even though that most of these student’s life was made up of failure after failure. He gave these students a warm and good feeling and bonded very strongly with them. Today, even more than a decade later, these now young adults will cross the street to greet him warmly and many also invite him to their weddings! While in this capacity he also began to intervene in difficult family situations providing parents with the skills to deal with family life and even challenging children.
At this stage he felt that it was important to improve his communication skills so he qualified as a NLP practitioner. Armed with this new skill he began to deal with a more challenging group of people- teenagers “at-risk”. He gained the trust of these teens who usually don’t trust anyone “over 30″ and this lead to his being able to build their very damaged self esteem. In one of these cases he helped someone who was totally convinced that he was totally evil to change his view of himself and to able to get married a few months later. Today, five years later, he is happily married and the father of 2 children.
Shevach still teaches and helps learning disabled, teenagers at risk and adults. In addition to this he contributes to monthly newsletter and writes for an international newspaper as well as attending classes at the the International Coaching Academy.
Some descriptions of Shevach that we heard from his employers, colleagues and clients are: caring, warm, honest, punctual, hard worker, reliable, creative, inquisitive, a great listener, non judgmental, open-minded, likable, funny, and easy going (his wife added that on himself he is very demanding!)
When asked what does he feel is his greatest accomplishment he answered, “Raising 12 children (who today range from 8 to 29) with my wife to be friendly, caring and helpful with each other as well as being positive members in their respective schools and communities.”
